The short version: we collect only what you send us, we use it to respond and to do the work you ask us to do, we never sell it, and this site sets no cookies and runs no ad trackers. The details follow.

01Who we are

Defining.com is operated by Buckley Media Group, LLC (“Defining,” “we,” “us”). We provide brand strategy, naming, and premium domain brokerage, acquisition, and appraisal services. Questions about this policy can be sent to sales@defining.com.

02What we collect

We collect the information you choose to send us. When you submit a form on this site—a general inquiry, a domain inquiry, or a brokerage questionnaire—we receive the details you enter, which may include your name, email address, phone number, company, and information about the domain or project you are contacting us about. If you email us directly, we receive your correspondence.

Like nearly every website, our hosting provider automatically logs standard technical data when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages you request. We use privacy-respecting, server-side traffic measurement that does not use cookies and does not track you across other websites.

03What we don’t do

• We do not sell your personal information.
• We do not run advertising or advertising trackers.
• We do not set cookies or use cross-site tracking.
• We do not send marketing emails or operate a newsletter.

04How we use your information

We use the information you send us to respond to your inquiry; to provide our branding, naming, brokerage, and appraisal services; to negotiate and document transactions you ask us to pursue; to maintain business records; and to comply with legal obligations.

05How your information is shared

We share information only as needed to run the business:

• Service providers. Our website and forms are hosted by Netlify, and our email runs on standard business email infrastructure. These providers process data on our behalf. This site also loads typefaces from Google Fonts, which means your browser requests font files from Google’s servers and Google receives your IP address as part of that request.
• Transaction counterparties. In a brokerage engagement, we share information with buyers, sellers, escrow providers, and registrars only as needed to carry out the transaction you have directed.
• Professional advisors. Lawyers, accountants, and similar advisors under obligations of confidentiality.
• Legal requirements. When required by law, subpoena, or to protect our rights or the safety of others.
• Business transfers. If Defining is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may transfer as part of that transaction.

06Confidentiality in brokerage

Discretion is core to how we work. Buyer-side acquisition engagements are conducted confidentially, and we do not disclose client identities, budgets, or negotiating positions except as needed to execute your instructions or as required by law.

07Retention

We keep inquiry and engagement records for as long as they are needed to serve you, document transactions, and meet legal and accounting requirements, then delete or anonymize them.

08Security

We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) across the entire site. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

09Your choices and rights

You can ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you by emailing sales@defining.com. Depending on where you live—including California and the EEA/UK—you may have additional rights under local law, and we will honor verified requests as those laws require. We do not discriminate against anyone for exercising privacy rights.

10Children

This site is intended for business audiences and is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

11International visitors

Defining operates from the United States, and information you send us is processed and stored in the United States.

12Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will post the updated version here with a new effective date. Material changes will be noted plainly.
